FAQ

  • How to better remove the stubborn/sticky residues inside the collecting plates?

Use the "Awesome" or another similar brand's spray cleaner mixed 50-50% solution with water (not the full concentrate) to pre-spray the collecting plates in a sink or tub. Spray both sides. Let sit for 1 minute. Then use a faucet hose to spray the collecting plate with hot water and rinse thoroughly until clean water runs down the drain.   Please follow the cleaning tutorial video on this video: https://youtu.be/bXi3qHdLolY  for further guidance.
  • How do I clean the catalyst filter?

You may wipe it with a damp cloth or vacuum cleaner to evacuate the dust collected. Afterward, put the catalyst filter under direct sunlight to evaporate the accumulated moisture.
  • I hear a clicking noise when the collection plates are inserted. What should I do?

Please clean the collecting plates and make sure it's fully dried before putting them back into the unit.
  • y Airdog has started to make abnormal noises, like a crackling or zapping sound. What's the problem?

As an electrostatic air purifier, Airdog air purifiers can make a static or crackling noise similar to an electric fly zapper if it senses a big particle (hair, piece of styrofoam, bugs) or a build-up of particles (dust, smoke, etc.) on the collecting plates, wireframe, or the grey colour liner inside. So, this noise typically indicates that deep cleaning is needed. Also, before you clean, you should run a quick and easy Diagnostic test to narrow down the area from which the noise is coming. You can turn it off, unplug it from the power source, and wait 10 minutes for the static inside to dissipate. Then, open the back cover, remove the collecting plate, close the rear cover panel, and turn it back on. Listen for the noise. Listen if the noise goes away when the collecting plate is not inside. If so, you know it is that filter that needs to be cleaned. If the noise continues, repeat the process but remove the wire frame this time, and run the unit without the wireframe or the plates inside. Suppose the noise continues when the wireframe and collecting plate are not in the machine. In that case, it likely means the main unit has a hardware or software issue that the Airdog Service Center needs to look at.
  • Why is my Airdog not turning on?

First, ensure your Airdog is plugged into the power source (wall outlet, etc.). Also, ensure the power cord is not broken/damaged (i.e., your puppy chewing on it, etc.). Next, ensure that the back plastic cover is completely closed and the catalyst filter is fully inserted. Suppose either of these 2 parts is partially inserted. In that case, the power toggle switches connected to them will not allow Airdog to power on. This is a quick and easy check to do. ( For X8 models, check these 2 parts as well as the 3 additional parts that also have toggle switches needing to be fully engaged. Those are the two side covers and the top plastic cover. Make sure all 5 pieces are "snapped shut in place" fully.) If lights are turning on, but the fan is not blowing air, the most likely cause is that it needs a new fan motor replaced. If lights are not turning on, the most likely cause is that it requires a new electronic control board replaced. For either of these reasons, contact your local Airdog Customer Service to get the unit serviced and repaired.
